NAMI Resources
NAMI Butte County is a grass roots organization of families and individuals whose lives have been affected by serious mental illness. We advocate for lives of quality and respect, without discrimination and stigma, for all our constituents. We provide leadership in advocacy, legislation, policy development, education and support.
Eduction Programs
- Family to Family
This program is a 12-week course for families of individuals with serious brain disorders (mental illnesses). Trained family members teach the course. All course materials are furnished at no cost to you. - Peer-To-Peer
This program is a 9-week course for individuals with mental illnesses. Trained peers teach the course. All course materials are furnished at no cost to you.
- Like heart disease and diabetes, mental illnesses are treatable.
- Mental illnesses are more common than cancer, diabetes, or heart disease.
- Over 17,000 people (6.9%) in Butte County have been diagnosed with a mental illness. This is consistent with the National average.
- Mental Illness does not discriminate: all ethnic groups, religions, and all economic brackets are affected.
